What Is Mutual Aid?
Mutual aid is a community-driven effort where people collaborate and voluntarily exchange good and resources with one another, creating a network of care and generosity to meet the needs of our neighbors, especially in times of crisis or when the government and other institutions fail to meet the needs of its people. It is non-hierarchical and mutual aid efforts are as diverse as the people a mutual aid network serves.
Mutual aid networks are not officially associated or affiliated with any specific government entities, religious institutions, or non-profits. Its flexible and non-hierarchical structure encourages more buy in from people in all parts of a community and specifically looks to call in people from all walks of life, from all backgrounds, and from all situations to show up for one another.
You do not need to worry about taking too much or giving too little; this is not a transaction - it’s about being good neighbors. Whoever you are, whatever you need, we’re happy you’re here.
